WHAT DID YOU DO FOR NYE?
We played in “Club Volume” Seoul, South Korea! We arrived on the day before so we could chill out a bit! Besides that it’s a great city, it was an amazing experience to step in the New Year on the other side of the world, just great. We never played there before so we didn’t know what to expect of the Korean party crowd. They knew a bunch of Showtek tracks even from the new album, just beautiful to see people go crazy on our own tunes and especially in Asia!

WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THE VENUE?
Good venue, very party minded atmosphere, well organised. It was in venue in the Millennium Dome isn’t it? Well, that’s a cool place to party.

YOUR BIGGEST AMBITION FOR 2010
We are busy with a new video clip which will hopefully work out well. Doing some solo shows maybe , that would be nice :) and discovering
new area’s in the world to play Showtek tunes. Brazil, Tokyo, Hawaii
for example..


WHAT TRACK NEVER LEAVES YOUR
RECORD OF CD BOX?
Hmm.. hard question, usually we only play Showtek tunes. Haha,
that’s what you get when you’ve just finished a new album. So it’s
difficult choosing our favourite track which makes people go nuts on
the dance floors all over the world.. I think it would be our hit single “Electronic Stereophonic”, feat MCDV8. That track is such a party track. It’s not even hardstyle or harddance, it’s a ‘one off’ we think and it
could be a collaboration between us and the Prodigy, haha listening
the way it’s produced. And the people go nuts on it, unbelievable!


CAN YOU MIX ON VINYL?
Duuhh... It would be the same question if we ask you if you can eat
with knife and fork? Haha lol. Yeah of course we started back in 2000
so we know how it is to carry 3 record bags to a gig!


WHAT TRACKS ARE YOU GOING
TO RELEASE NEXT?
Analogue Players in a Digital World & Rock Child are already released digitally. The vinyl will be in stores on the 1st of February.

WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE DUTCH AND THE UK CROWDS?
Well, the mentality is totally different. Holland hasn’t got the real
party crowd like the UK. We don’t know why but the people just think
differently and we grow up on a totally different way with music.
“Show” is a massive aspect in the Dutch party scene, people are used
to great laser, visuals and everything else. So going to a big event,
probably 70% of the people come for the gathering not for just the
music. The UK crowd can go nuts just on a dj who plays a strong dj set, even if they have to dance in the mud or faced by extreme flashing lights!

2001? Something like that....


WHEN DID YOU FIRST NOTICE YOU HAD
BECOME SUPERSTARS?
Hahahah, uhh.. selling out a 6000 people show in Sydney Australia
last year was really something big for us. We played for 7 hours!
We were like; fuck it’s sold out! That’s a moment where you have to
stand still for a moment and realise that’s a highlight in your career!
And since we fly business class to Australia we noticed that we don’t
want to go back anymore. Which makes us a bit spoiled, Hahaha...


WHAT WAS THE MADDEST HOTEL YOU
STAYED IN DURING LAST YEAR?
We stayed in some kind of palace in Zagreb! That was so fancy,
wooww….. Marriot, Hilton, eat your heart out!!!


HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR SOUND?
We had this question lots of times and normally we copy paste it
from our latest interview ha-ha, what can we say! These days we
have a very accessible sound, which makes Showtek not just
hardstyle or what kind of name you want to give it. These days we
are internationally profiled, that’s why we play all over the world
probably. For example; in Seoul the people were used to seeing
Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk or Marcel Woods. Showtek was something new!
But because we are not playing just hardstyle but Showtek Style
we were able to play there.


WHEN YOU ARE NOT PLAYING OR MAKING
MUSIC WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO?
Working out in the gym, chilling on the couch, hanging with our
friends or just spending time with our girlfriends or family!


WE ARE COMING TO DINNER! WHO IS DOING
THE COOKING AND WHAT IS ON THE MENU?
Ok when do you want to come? Hahaha, Sjoerd will do the
cooking! Walt will watch from a distance :). Well, if we cook you
something it will be pasta or something, if we take you for dinner
we’ll go to the Thai!
